I believe that an educated trainer is a dog's best friend. Whether you're a passionate dog lover, a training geek who plans to go pro, or an established trainer who wants fresh ideas and approaches for your current clients, my courses are designed to help you work at your highest potential and create meaningful change for dogs.
I have seen clients professionally and been a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers since 2001. I teach the APDT’s popular course, Dog Training 101: What Every Dog Trainer Should Know, and offer a Beginning Behavior Consulting mentorship at the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC).
My resume includes service as past president of and a five-year board term at IAABC, fostering dogs for local rescues, and membership in APDT and the American Whippet Club, for which I write a monthly behavior column. I'm a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant with IAABC, where I also work as member services coordinator and on the Education Committee. I hold a degree in magazine journalism from Ohio University.
I believe all dogs deserve a humane education, and to enjoy the Five Freedoms set forth by the Farm Animal Welfare Council. My training adheres to the Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive approach, which requires both competency and skill, and the treatment of every animal and client as an individual.
